BESCOM meter of my house stopped showing no reading on display screen. It showed a blank screen. So, I had to replace it. Here are the detailed steps, I followed to get it replaced.
Note : If the BESCOM meter stopped working within 5 years of installation, then it will be replaced free of cost by BESCOM, as it comes under warranty. If not, one has to purchase a new one and install it.

- Visit to the Soujanya Counter :
- On enquiring in the Soujanya Counter in BESCOM office, I was asked to meet the JEE (Junior Engineer Electrical). He asked me to get the form for granting permission to purchase the BESCOM meter.
- Getting the Form for granting permission to purchase BESCOM meter :
- Above is the form you should get.
- The form would be available in Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors Association office, which would generally be near to BESCOM office.
- This form would be filled by the JEE indicating he has granted permission to procure the BESCOM meter.
- Get the above form filled and signed by JEE :
- JEE will fill and sign the form and will tell where the meters are available.
- Procure the meter :
- In my case, local BESCOM office did not have stock of single phase meters. So, I had to go to AEE BESCOM office in Rajaji Nagar. It has the retail outlet for procuring electricity meters. Following is the address of the same :
- AEE BESCOM Office, 41st Cross Rd, Rajaji Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560010
- Hand over the form filled by JEE and procure the meter. It would be good keep a photocopy of the letter, as the original letter will have to be submitted.
- Get the purchase bill and check the carton box containing the meter has Test certificate issued by BESCOM and warranty certificate.
- Cost of the single phase meter was Rs.740/-
- Register the meter in the BESCOM office :
- Come back to local BESCOM office and get the meter registered by JEE.
- JEE will ask a lineman to install the new meter and ask you to pay him Rs.100/-
- Get the meter installed by lineman :
- Get the lineman to your location to install the new meter.
- Old meter has to be handed over to the lineman.
- You don't have to pay any bribe to get your BESCOM meter replaced.
- It takes a bit of patience and diligence to get the thing done. JEE may not be available in his office all the time. So, you may have to wait and but do not loose patience!
- Even if it is a Saturday, office will be open till 5 30 pm.
- Keep the original receipt of purchase of meter, as it would be required to claim warranty later.
- Keep copy of grant letter and original test and warranty certificates with you.
- Following were my expenses :
- Cost of BESCOM single phase meter : Rs. 740/-
- Installation fees for line man : Rs.100/-
- Fuel expenses : Rs.100/-
- Time Spent : Around 6 hours

Big Banyan Tree : Well, I started from Vijayanagar and reached Nayandahalli from where Shande picked me at 7 30 AM. Bike ride was not even 25 minutes when we reached Big Banyan Tree at Ramohalli. Plan was to have breakfast here, wander around the dodda aalada mara and then proceed towards Manchinabele dam. As the full gang of 11 people was yet to assemble at the spot, me, Shande and Subhajit started our photographic adventure! Big banyan tree is spread across 3 acres and provides photographers with the opportunities to shoot in different perspectives. We tried to find main root of the tree without any success but later I came to know that it was succumbed to a natural disease. After the first photo session we had our breakfast in the nearby hotel and got ready to shoot for the second time, this time monkeys which are abundant around the big tree!
Manchinabele Dam/Backwaters : Big banyan tree also houses Shri Muneshwara Swamy temple. After our visit to dodda aalada mara, we headed towards Manchinabele dam which is about 8 kms from Ramohalli. Well, for the resort enthusiasts here is an info – Ruppis Hotel & Resort by Kannada actor Upendra is nearby Big Banyan Tree. Further, road towards Manchinabele dam was in pathetic condition as it was not asphalted and it was understandable too, as on the way we found facilities being setup with all those hi-fi antennas for Chandrayan mission 2010 by ISRO(Indian Space Research Organization) and so new roads were being laid. 
Manchinabele dam was not too far and we reached soon there. Backwaters at the dam with Savanadurga on the backdrop, give the place picturesque look. No short of SLRs and other Digicams, gang was on for photographic expedition as soon as we reached the place. We had stopped at the rocky area near the dam to take some photos and have some snacks as it was already past 12. Chit chats and exclamations of the beautiful place followed.
Our next stop was to stop at the banks of the river which was known for bird watching. Not a variety of birds though as Brahminy kite was prominent among the eagles in the place. Birds are at a striking distance and care is required while carrying cameras. One could also find cranes though they were less in number. Well, surroundings near the river offer you cool breeze to escape from hot sun. Savanadurga, largest monolith hill in Asia, seemed quite near from here. Other than birds in motion there was not much to see. Facing the Manchinabele backwaters was the hilly area in the above picture. What caught my attention was its striking resemblance to Kashmir valley!
Temple is now being expanded into Mukthi Naaga Temple complex which will have 125 feet Mahadwara/Rajagopura, Navagraha temples, Kshetra Palaka Temple, Patladamma temple, Aadimukthi Naaga Temple, 1008 Nagabana, Annapurna Meals hall, Chikka Palani, Go Shala, Dharmadarshi Bhavan and Dharmadarshi house. After the darshan at the temple we were on our way back home.
Background: I had never been to any cricket stadium to watch a live match. But Sandeep’s josh transformed me to go for one, that too for the wholesome entertaining IPL match(not exciting enough though, as our home team Bangalore Royal Challengers was on a loosing streak). But the tickets had been booked by Sandeep long back when he was on a business trip to Paris and when in Bangalore you have no choice but to go for the match in which one of the teams is always Bangalore and you may expect less fireworks from them. Sandeep had bought 2 tickets for the Bangalore v/s Delhi match on May 19th but his colleagues had also booked ticket for him for the same match. Now, he had an extra ticket. He asked me whether any of my friends were interested to join. That’s when I called Deviprasad, a cricket freak. He instantly accepted the invitation and we had a big team now around 10 people to watch the match. But it was only when Sandeep saw the tickets booked by his colleagues, he realized that our stands were different. So, I and Devi headed for our stand which was McDowells Best View(Stand A).
Initial Proceedings: I had left office early to reach Chinnaswamy stadium as you never know with Bangalore traffic. Though Devi had told he would be around 6 PM and me much earlier, he was the first to reach the place. With rain pouring heavily and Sandeep and friends still on their way, we decided to go inside the stadium. I was skeptical whether we would have a game at all with all those rains and if it all it stopped raining whether we will have a full match. Routine security checks were in place and one of the security personnel wondered about the rechargeable batteries I had carried in my bag. I told it was for the camera and he seemed convinced. Well, we were now inside the stadium with early birds already occupying strategic positions i.e seats!
