One More Feather To His Cap

Score board read

Paul Collingwood lbw b Kumble 0(3)

in India vs England, Ist Test Lord’s, London. With that Anil Kumble became the highest wicket taker in the form of LBWs in tests. That speaks volumes for the accurate bowling of the Mechanical Engineering graduate from RV College of Engineering, Bangalore. Previously he was tied with Australian leggie, Shane Warne with 138 wickets for the highest LBWs in Tests.

With 2 wickets on the first day of the first test against he now stands with a tally of 554 wickets in 116 tests. He is fourth among the all time highest wicket takers in tests behind Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan and Glenn McGrath. The present standings of these bowlers in tests is as follows

Shane Warne – 708 wickets off 145 tests
Muttiah Muralitharan – 700 wickets off 113 tests
Glenn McGrath – 563 wickets off 123 tests

One record Kumble would be eyeing will be surpassing Glenn McGrath’s tally of 563 wickets. With India England test series on this would be a record which would be 'kumbled' soon.

Lets wish all the best for this man to set up another record in the near future

Raveesh

  1. records are fine ... when it comes to attitude ... overall Anil Kumble is a good sportsman ... but I don't like his one attitude .... "He doesn't set high standards on the field, but expects others to set in his bowling" .... this was once mentioned by Tony Greg.
