The character o...Hi Raghav,
Thanks for the comments.

The character of Hoovaiah's daughters is justified. He loses them. This is just to show the pain he suffers from loosing them. And if he loses his village too, no, he will not let that to happen. This is just to shake the emotional aspect of the hero and nothing else. That too has not been given too much importance since the main issue here is globalization's ill effects. And to have Suhasini in the leading role is just a marketing strategy and generate the hype. To call it a average movie just because of these two aspects is not agreeable. In this age of remaking and commercialization of movies, Nagatihalli has picked a contemporary subject, blended it with some commercial aspects. This is required if you want market your movie keeping originality of the script. In the Kannada Film Industry this is rare.

I feel that this movie have to be dubbed/remade in other Indian languages to reach a much larger audience. All in all it is a movie worth watching.Raveesh Kumarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02898028390727186228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30097073.post-13254767066535054692007-08-27T20:36:00.000+05:302007-08-27T20:36:00.000+05:30"Matadu Matadu Mallige" (MMM) is an avearage movie..."Matadu Matadu Mallige" (MMM) is an avearage movie in my opnion. the story deals with the "vastu stithi" of globalization prone rural india. it mainly deals with the apathy of state politicians in handling such situations.
coming to film making ability of nagatihalli chandrashekar , since his first movie he is able to make some good movies with very matured actors(ramesh , ananthnag) but has failed miserably at extracting talent from new actors like dhyan. the screenplay is very shoddy. at some places he has deviated from the main theme of the movie i.e globalization. the character of hooviah's daughters was totally unnecessary. this fact is also proved by the fact that the issue of his daughters getting married against their parents' wishes was given a mere 2-3 minutes of screen time.he has tried to commercialize the movie but has failed at it miserably. the main reason for bringing in suhasini was for promotion than for any character. she was totally off placed. her kannada was very broken and in some of the emotional scenes her performance was contrasting to her earlier movies ( bandhana , amruthavarshini). she didnt suit the character at all. any local theater artist would have done justice to her role. her role required somebody who could speak good rural kannada dialect at which suhasini failed miserably. coming to music of the film , only the title track is hummable. nagatihalli chandrashekar should not even attempt at writing lyrics for movies. its just a assembling of rhyming words.
it is a good try but this movie cant live for long in the minds of kannada movie buffs.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02083270466079226654noreply@blogger.com
